Setelah perkuliahan selesai, para penerima beasiswa diharapkan kembali ke negara masing-masing dan melanjutkan studi atau kerja di sana.

Guidance Notes for Applicants
1. What do the scholarships offer?
The scholarships aim to provide opportunities for independent postgraduate study in the
United Kingdom for students who have demonstrated both academic excellence and the
potential to become leaders, decision-makers and opinion formers in their own country. Upon
completion of their studies in the UK, scholars are expected to return to their home country to
resume their studies or work there. Subject to satisfactory progress, the scholarships lead to
the award of a Masters degree.
Scholarships are available for study for the MSc International Strategy and Economics, MLitt
Middle East and Central Asian Security Studies and the MLitt Peace and Conflict Studies.
Each scholarship provides tuition fees at the University of St Andrews, a stipend to cover
living costs (for one person only) and return air travel from the scholar’s home country.
2. Who is eligible to apply?
The scholarships are open to applicants from Indonesia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.
Applicants must:
A. be nationals of, and normally resident in one of the selected countries during the
academic year in which they apply for the award; applicants who are temporarily out of
the country (for a total period of less than three consecutive months) may be treated as
being resident;
B. display intellectual ability and leadership potential;
C. already hold (or expect to hold by the time of taking up the award) a degree of an
equivalent standard to a good UK second-class Honours degree;
D. have passed an appropriate English language test by the time of taking up the award;
E. have not already received or be currently receiving financial benefit from a previous
HMG fully funded Scholarship;
F. return to their home country at the end of their scholarship period to continue their
studies / work there.
Preference will be given to applicants who have not previously studied outside of their home
country.
Employees, employees’ relatives (or former employees who have left employment less than
two years before) of FCO (including FCO posts), the British Council, the Educational
Advising Centers or local OSI representations in the region and the participating
universities will not be eligible to apply for these awards.

PROGRAM BEASISWA PEMERINTAH SWISS
Tahun Akademik 2010/11
Pemerintah Swiss melalui Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students (FCS)
menawarkan beasiswa dalam jumlah terbatas untuk negara berkembang termasuk Indonesia.
Beasiswa tersebut ditawarkan untuk mahasiswa PASCA SARJANA (POSTGRADUATE)
yang ingin berkuliah di salah satu perguruan tinggi di Swiss. Tujuan beasiswa ini adalah untuk
memberi kesempatan bagi mahasiswa untuk memperdalam pendidikan atau melakukan riset
yang menjadi bidang khusus di perguruan tinggi yang dipilih. Bidang studi pilihan harus
bermanfaat bagi perkembangan di Indonesia. Pada dasarnya penerima beasiswa dapat kuliah
atau melakukan riset di perguruan tinggi federal manapun di Swiss yang tercantum pada
halaman 4 dan 5. Pelamar harus mempertimbangkan bidang studi yang ditawarkan oleh
perguruan tinggi di Swiss. Program studi atau pendidikan berikut TIDAK termasuk dalam
tawaran beasiswa ini:
1. Ilmu Kesenian
2. Pendidikan Strata 1
3. Pendidikan Sekolah Perhotelan
4. Pertukaran mahasiswa
5. Part-time studies
6. On-the-job studies
7. Studi jarak jauh (correspondence course)
Beasiswa berlangsung selama 9 (sembilan) bulan (1 tahun akademik). Dalam kondisi tertentu
beasiswa dapat diperpanjang maksimal hingga tahun ajaran ke-2 sesuai dengan
pertimbangan FCS dan perguruan tinggi yang bersangkutan.
Persyaratan
1. Warga Negara Indonesia (diprioritaskan WNI yang tinggal dan berkarir di Indonesia)
2. Ijazah perguruan tinggi (minimal Sarjana Strata-1 atau sederajat)
3. Batas umur pada waktu melamar harus di bawah 35 tahun (pelamar dilahirkan setelah
tanggal 31 Desember 1974)
4. Penguasaan salah satu bahasa resmi di Swiss yang memadai (Bahasa Jerman, Perancis
atau Itali) -- tergantung lokasi perguruan tinggi yang dipilih -- dan Bahasa Inggris untuk
beberapa program studi. Setiap pelamar harus mengikuti test bahasa di Kedutaan Besar
Swiss Jakarta untuk pengujian kemampuan bahasa secara lisan dan tulisan.
Catatan: Penguasaan salah satu bahasa resmi di Swiss adalah prioritas seleksi terutama jika
kuliah di perguruan tinggi yang dituju masih menggunakan bahasa yang bersangkutan. Selain itu
penerima beasiswa harus dapat memperoleh keuntungan yang optimal dari beasiswa ini. Tanpa
penguasaan salah satu bahasa resmi di Swiss akan sangat sulit untuk menghadapi kehidupan
sehari-hari (misalnya untuk berkomunikasi di kantor polisi dan imigrasi, kantor pos, bank,
kehidupan kampus, dsb.).

Pelamar yang unggul namun hanya mampu berbahasa Inggris dapat dipertimbangkan, selama
kuliah yang dituju sepenuhnya diadakan dalam Bahasa Inggris dan yang bersangkutan bersedia
mengikuti kursus bahasa intensif di Fribourg atau Lugano selama 3 bulan. Biaya kursus bahasa
ini termasuk beasiswa dan biasanya dimulai pada bulan Juli.
5. Surat penerimaan/konfirmasi dari perguruan tinggi yang dipilih. Sebelum melamar
beasiswa ini, para pelamar harus menghubungi profesor atau fakultas dari perguruan
tinggi yang dipilih untuk mendapatkan konfirmasi penerimaan tertulis. Surat tersebut harus
dilampirkan dalam dokumentasi permohonan beasiswa. Permohonan untuk surat
penerimaan atau konfirmasi ditujukan langsung kepada perguruan tinggi. Persyaratan
untuk mendapatkan surat tersebut harus dilihat di situs setiap perguruan tinggi. Secara
umum pelamar harus menyertai rencana studi/riset yang rinci dan jelas, curriculum vitae
dan fotokopi ijazah perguruan tinggi beserta transkrip nilai yang telah dilegalisir.
Terjemahan resmi dan yang dilegalisir diperlukan apabila dokumen asli tidak dikeluarkan
dalam Bahasa Inggris, Jerman, Perancis atau Itali.
6. Rencana studi/riset dan motivasi yang menjelaskan secara rinci dan jelas tujuan dari
studi/riset. Pelamar harus mempertimbangkan bidang studi yang ditawarkan oleh
perguruan tinggi di Swiss dan kemungkinan integrasi profesional jika kembali ke Indonesia
setelah menyelesaikan studi / risetnya.
Prosedur permohonan
Formulir pendaftaran beasiswa dapat diperoleh hingga tanggal 16 Oktober 2009 dan
hanya diberikan kepada pelamar yang telah memenuhi persyaratan tersebut di atas.
Untuk memperoleh formulir, pelamar harus mengirim surat permohonan singkat yang berisi
keterangan dan dokumen sebagai berikut :
1. Nama lengkap
2. Tanggal lahir
3. Bahasa asing yang dikuasai selain Bahasa Inggris (Jerman, Perancis, atau Itali;
tergantung pada lokasi perguruan tinggi yang dituju)
4. Program studi dan perguruan tinggi yang dituju
5. Lampiran surat penerimaan/konfirmasi dari profesor atau perguruan tinggi yang dipilih.
Surat ini adalah konfirmasi yang menyatakan bahwa pihak perguruan tinggi menyetujui
riset/rencana studi dan pelamar memiliki latar belakang pendidikan atau pengalaman
yang sesuai.

Formulir akan dikirim melalui e-mail. Pelamar harus sudah mengembalikan formulir
pendaftaran paling lambat pada tanggl 30 Oktober 2009, dilampiri lengkap dengan dokumendokumen
pendukung ke Kedubes Swiss.
Formulir dan dokumen tersebut diserahkan dalam rangkap 3 (tiga). Setiap set dokumen harus

Dokumen yang difotokopi harus dilegalisir sesuai aslinya. Dokumen-dokumen yang aslinya
tidak dikeluarkan dalam Bahasa Inggris, Jerman, Perancis atau Itali harus diterjemahkan ke
dalam salah satu bahasa tersebut dan dilegalisir serta dilampirkan pada dokumen yang telah
diterjemahkan.
Harap diingat bahwa hanya aplikasi yang lengkap dan disusun rapi yang akan
dipertimbangkan. Apabila semua persyaratan administrasi telah dilengkapi, Kedutaan Besar
Swiss akan menseleksi setiap pelamar untuk diundang mengikuti wawancara dan ujian
bahasa tertulis. Dengan demikian tidak semua pelamar akan dipanggil untuk mengikuti
prosedur seleksi selanjutnya. Federal Commission for Scholarships for Foreign Students
(FCS) akan mengumumkan penerima beasiswa pada bulan Mei 2010.
Jumlah beasiswa
CHF 1.920,-/bulan untuk mahasiswa pasca-sarjana (postgraduate)
CHF 1.600,-/bulan untuk kursus bahasa di Fribourg atau Lugano
Catatan: Harap diingat, bahwa tidak semua program pasca-sarjana dan perguruan tinggi
membebaskan penerima beasiswa dari biaya perkuliahan. Beasiswa hanya mencakup biaya hidup di
Swiss. Untuk itu setiap pelamar sangat perlu mengklarifikasi kepastian pembebasan uang kuliah
untuk program studi yang dipilih dengan perguruan tinggi yang bersangkutan.
Biaya perjalanan dan asuransi
Penerima beasiswa dari Indonesia harus menanggung biaya perjalanan ke Swiss sendiri.
Perjalanan pulang ke Indonesia akan ditanggung FCS (tidak termasuk anggota keluarga).
Biaya perjalanan pulang tidak akan ditawarkan apabila penerima beasiswa tinggal di Swiss
lebih dari 6 bulan setelah menyelesaikan studinya di Swiss, atau apabila bekerja atau pindah
ke negara ketiga.
Asuransi kesehatan (kecuali untuk gigi) dan asuransi kecelakaan akan disediakan.
Kewajiban penerima beasiswa

Penerima beasiswa harus bertempat tinggal di tempat studinya di Swiss dan harus mengikuti
semua aturan hukum yang berlaku bagi orang asing yang bertempat tinggal di Swiss serta
aturan yang berlaku di perguruan tinggi. Anggota keluarga tidak dapat dibawa oleh penerima
beasiswa pada tahun pertama namun diperbolehkan untuk mengunjungi Swiss sebagai turis
dengan biaya sendiri.
Penerima beasiswa harus memberikan pernyataan tertulis untuk kembali ke Indonesia setelah
menyelesaikan studi / risetnya di Swiss.
Beasiswa FCS tidak dapat diambil secara bersamaan dengan beasiswa lain. Apabila
penerima beasiswa menerima beasiswa lain atau bantuan keuangan (mis.: gaji), beasiswa
akan dibatalkan.
